I think it ended up being one of those things, like... I acted scared all the time because of the way things were then, but the fact that I acted that way made it worse. So then I was even more scared, and it kind of just kept going like that.

I did give up. I didn't think there was any point to trying to stand up for myself... I thought there was no way I'd ever be able to get strong enough, no matter what I did, so it didn't seem worth it to try that, either.
